I found a tool online to stop carrier IQ, (I hope). There still is HTC IQ Agent running and it suggests that you have force stopped the program. When you immediately go back, it is back on again without my consent, or a EULA. I found this as a result of the YouTube Video from Trevor Eckhart. Note, the IQRD is also still running. I did not scroll far enough down in this menu but it too is there and on. Does HTC have their own data mine too? Here's the PDF link of that letter to Carrier IQ from Senator Al Franken:http://www.bgr.com/2011/12/01/senate-gives-carrier-iq-until-december-14th-to-address-privacy-concerns/ (PDF is at the bottom of page).

  • If you delete these files, they come right back when you get a push update. Senator Al Franken sent a formal letter on this and appeared before congress to question the motive for these sets of IQ apps...

  • Hey everyone, The other thing running on this device is called "IQRD" and it too does NOT have a EULA, (End User License Agreement). I am guessing here but "RD" may be an acronym for "Root Directory". Does anyone know the answer to this? The icon is identical to the Carrier IQ icon...

  • Thanks Tamako. I highly suspect that it is a similar version of CarrierIQ, as they share the same icon in the "running apps". Who knows, this app may be reporting data back to HTC too. The phone and 3D features are great, but it's going to get very interesting once CarrierIQ responds to the Federal probe initiated by senator Al Franken with a 12 day demand for answers. I added the link to the pdf above in the description.... This is going to be very interesting to watch unfold.
