I think of this tournament as Monica's farewell event because she really injured her foot at the Australian Open in 2003 and wasn't able to play at her top level.

Honestly, I feel with all those accomplishments and with everything she had to go through in her career that she is one of the greatever ever women players. I would put with at #4 or 5

I remember the 2002 AO match well where Seles defeated Venus for the first time she snapped her losing streak I believe. It was the last GS I watched with my dad, who was a bigger fan of the Slams than I was, but watching Seles beat Venus was huge, b/c we all knew Seles had it in her post-comeback, but I found myself rooting for her success more than I saw it happen (like the old days). I just wish wish wish that it was somehow possible to know history without Monica being stabbed. :( So sad
