Dear kwik9893,
It sounds like the data is not setup in a way that VLOOKUP can understand. I am still unclear about the setup. Perhaps you can send an email to my:
excelisfun gmail account
with:
Excel workbook and clear description of what you want to do, data setup and goal.
Then I will see what I can do!

The other 3 sheets need to be linked to the Main. I have selected only certain columns from the main to be on the other three (they are the same 3 columns)
As I add a new row and data to the Main sheetrows each day, I want the exact same thing to happen on the other three. Now, another rpogram (ArcMap) is linked to the other 3 sheets. They cant be dropdown tables. They have to be in normal spreadsheet format(rows & columns, headers) ArcMap uses these 3 sheets to populate map files on its program.

I have a spreadsheet with 1 main sheet,, and 3 other worksheets. These sheets have road data on them.On the main, I have several columns, ie (routes, road names, work codes, BegMilepost,EndMilepost,..). The rows are Route #'s only. Each day, I add the work that was done the previous day onto the Main sheet by clicking on the row under the appropriate road ,add a new row, and enter the info. Each road has several rows under it depending on how much work has been done on it. I add new rows each day

Dear Poorna77,
If your date is in cell A1, then try this formula:
=TEXT(A1,"mm/dd/yyy")
