  • This whale was never hit by the harpoon. The modern harpoons have a design which makes them go in a straight line in the same angle as it hits the water. The first shot in this video show that the harpoon hits the sea many many metres before the whale and therefore is not even close to the whale. The whale becomes scared by the "splash" of the harpoon and probably when it notices something moving under it. If you guys are against whalehunting then fine, be against it, but get your facts rigth!

  • I, Jon Hlidberg of Iceland have been on one Minke Whale hunt, many years ago, but today's methods are the same, During this trip 3 whales were killed One was almost instantenous, one took about five minutes, but the third took over 20 min to kill. The harpoon struck the whale above the vertablal column, and the animal took off, in about 15 min. the vessel had caught up with it and the exhausted animal received three 458 Winchester mag. bullets in its head from point blanc range before dying.
