What is The Atheist Experience?

The Atheist Experience is a weekly cable access television show in Austin, Texas, geared at an atheist and non-atheist audience. The Atheist Experience is produced by the Atheist Community of Austin (ACA), a nonprofit educational corporation to develop and support the atheist community, to provide opportunities for socializing and friendship, to promote secular viewpoints, to encourage positive atheist culture, to defend the first amendment principle of state-church separation, to oppose discrimination against atheists and to work with other organizations in pursuit of common goals.

  • I tried to test God, but nobody showed up to take the test.

  • I tried to sell my soul to the devil but I was disappointed to find no reply and no awesome satanic magical powers.

  • @TheGeneralCritic Riiight? Whose side are you on? We cant ever use that analogy again - give the religious nutjobs more ammo. Apples and Oranges probably have more similarities than differences.

They rarely argue specifically against abiogenesis as it is understood that for Evolutionary Theory to be accurate its almost inherent that abiogenesis must be true also.

I dont understand, are you of a different religion than the rest of us active atheists? I dont know what you're saying?

  • @psford1 ID compares with Evolutionary Theory the way an apple compares with an orange.

You want abiogenesis, friend. Evolutionary Theory deals with how things change over time, not where it came from.

  • All these guys do is bash a specific religion (typically Christianity). When will they attempt to tackle the bigger issue. Is Intelligent Design a valid theory or idea? Unfortunately, ID compares very well with Evolutionary Theory and I would hope that no one ever does do a comparison test with them. That would be pretty disheartening to see the parallels. Evolution, as described by Evolutionary Theory, is what we've all been taught since grade school. I hope they do not test our beliefs...

  • @muzalot An agnostic is a type of atheist.

  • @nejtilsvampe

Claims that atheism is not a belief or that atheism and agnosticism have the same definition are certainly debatably.. While some atheists may indeed be agnostics the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy says; "Atheism means the negation of theism, the denial of the existence of God." Furthermore, DENIAL is not merely a lack of belief in God, it is in fact an assertion about something one strongly believes..

  • @muzalot atheism is not a belief that there is no god, it's a lack of belief, and there IS a difference. The difference being that atheists are not 'claiming' they know, that is anti-theists or gnostic atheists. And budhists by definition have lack of belief in a god, therefore they are by definition atheists, even though they might say they don't know (I don't claim to know either, but I am an atheist). You're probably an atheist in regards to Freia and Apollon aswell etc.

  • @nejtilsvampe

OK, I believe you know what "quantify" means so obviously your not asking what my statement means, your merely disagreeing.. I likewise disagree with you in that buddhists are atheists.. They would more accurately be described as non-theists or agnostic-theists, not to be confused with atheism or the strong believe that there is no being as absolute and immutable G-d..

  • @muzalot "Atheists by rule don't believe anything they cannot quantify"

Wth does that mean? May I remind you that budhists are atheists?

  • @casablanca4381 i know, it contains silliness such as virgin births, men walking on water, zombies and more...
