What material was used as the sole? It looks like leather. Many shoes for women have but what looks like a thin layer of leather as soles. While men have to put up with or demand being set apart from and /or askew of the ground with, more often, thicker soles. These look like the way to go.

@reforest4fertility The material in this video is a rubber from Vibram they call "Cherry." It's 4mm thick and gives a VERY barefoot feel while still offering protection. It's what we use in our kits and custom-made shoes at invisibleshoe(dot)com
