It sure is easy to engage 8-9 year olds with technology. I used my Ipad and some apps today in small learning groups. Even in small groups the kids were having difficulty waiting their turn. If only I had a six pack of Ipads. I can't wait until my VGA adapter comes so I can call on one student to come up and demonstrate while the others can watch on the big screen. Really great potential. Please post apps in the comments that you think would help meet our 3rd grade goals.

  • amazing! I am writing a grant to get iPads into our classrooms. Your video is great and just proves how vital it is to have smart technology in our classrooms.

  • @fbqueenb1 What grade are you teaching? In the grant application I would include specific apps that apply to state standards. For example, Mad Libs to reinforce grade appropriate parts of speech, Flash Racer Math to practice addition/subtraction. I have five touch ipods and an Ipad and I have it as one of four centers so it's a small group and each kid can have one. Thanks for the feedback and encouragement

  • My class uses IPads :-)

  • Super amazing tool and all kids should get the opportunity to learn this way! Please check out BrainiApps for an amazing iPad Learning Program as well. BrainiApps on web!!!

  • This is the best idea I've seen since the invention of the crayon in 1903. What better way to reach the modern child than the use of this technology? With a little bit of active support, this positive and exciting concept could have a lasting effect on all the students exposed to it even if it is just used as a classroom tool. Keep it up!

  • @jumba6 This is being done now with my ONLINE college. We have to be careful. IF a parent can't afford the internet, her child will be without the assignment. Are we asking kids and parents to meet at the closest wi fi cafe??

I love the fact the ipad could be used in schools.. I think thats hot!!

  • @maxwellkfma We tried that... Hahaha! Actually all of the school have been for the last 30 years or more!

these kids want more... They already have Wii and Playstation.. Now, let us mix it with education!

  • Try ABC phonics and shapes.. They should be out soon for the iPad. Also, Jumbine Lite.

  • @maxwellkfma Yep, I agree,

1a.If school provides, kids would steal, easily, and if they are hardly paying the book fines for lost books what makes ya think they would for these?

    b. Kids would steal these from each other.

c.If class room set, would have to be locked up, and monitored.

    d.Expensive.

    2.Someone drops their tablet

    3.Many more

So yep, no need for that, that is why schools have computer labs.

  • @jumba6 well at least were learning!
