We created a robot called Zippy to participate at the RoboMagellan contest at RoboGames 2008 in San Francisco. Their website is www.robogames.net. Our robot got 1st place!

RoboMagellan is a competition in which robots have to autonomously navigate to orange cones and touch them. The layout of the course is given at competition and each team has 30 minutes to take measurements of the course and program their robot for the specific course.

Zippy used a combination of a Garmin eTrex GPS, digital compass, gyroscope, touch sensor, camera, and sonar sensors to autonomously navigate the course, avoid obstacles along the way, and touch all three orange cones, including two bonus cones and the final cone. (The remote control you see in only a shut off switch in case of emergency, it does not control the robot).

Our names are Benjamin Filippenko and Sergiy Nesterenko and our email is superdankies@gmail.com.

Enjoy!
