Why not just let people enjoy books that they enjoy instead of being a pretentious wanker about it?

I'm unaware of Steve Irwin having had any zoological training but he did acquire a flair for showmanship and shameless self promotion. His father was a suburban Melbourne plumber until moving the family to QLD in 1970. Steve's allure and financial ability seemed to hold the family together until his death when the family degenerated into internal squabbles (Bob vs Terri) litigation, being sued for unpaid debts and I seem to recall that Terri even obstructed Bob from seeing his grandchildren.

Well, I don't go all the way there! I think he liked animals, but was he educated formally about them, as in zoological studies? Irwin had a mania, he had the button turned up to 10 all the time, which infuriated me. He and his family had/have Australia Zoo, so I think they like(d) fauna, but he was a stuntman, he could not leave them alone- like Germaine Greer observed. Remember Harry Butler always with his hand up come critter's arse, extracting it from a tree trunk? You feel for the amimals!!

Well, not claiming I could write better, but if I were I writer, I'd hope I could. Why not just pick up Valley of the Dolls?

I've finally found someone else who shares my opinion on Steve Irwin. Irwin made a fortune on tormenting wild animals for the pleasure of bored, brain dead humans. He didn't educate people, he wasn't a wildlife warrior (whatever that is), and he wasn't a conservationist, but a hustler. All hail to the stingray!

Morris West was also not accepted by the literary community, however, in theme and in manner he exceeded Bryce Courtenay: West was humble, he was a reflective man and his works deserve far more consideration that Bryce Courtenay's .
