I realize that meteorology isn't geography, but they ARE closely related. You don't usually see mistakes like this go out on the air, particularly not on the Weather Channel. Cuba, by the way, is about 720 miles long. That's big, but not the 2,393 miles touted in this segment of Hurricane Ike coverage from Sep. 8, 2008. The figure cited happens to be the flight distance from Philadelphia to Los Angeles. [Fair use: for "criticism and comment"]
