Where can I find one to fit my malibu I have a 05 malibu classic 2.2 ecotec engine?
-
That's a short ram warm air intake

I bought that same filter for my 97 V6 Malibu. And yes it was cheap in price and it does the job. It sounds nice and you could wash it too.

this easy to install or do i need a mechinic to do it?

K&N Re-Charge kit works perfect for these. I've owned the filter for my Malibu about 4 years now and one thing that has helped is I left the air box in the car with the tubing so it rests in the box and not smashing around on the wheel well. Also with the piping from the original air filter it allows air to be pushed up to the filter along with the air that is around the filter already. Something to thing about.

thats not a cold air intake LOL

@lightningblue2 True, and also there is like 0 room in the fender well or infront grill area, I was hoping to run a pipe from my 2 fog lights up to air intake but theres literaly room for only a 1" pipe.

Thats a warm air intake not a cold air. A full cold air intake would be in the fenderwall.

Cold air intakes are nice, I paid $60 for mine on a 95 grand cherokee, it added a bit of power and actually brought mpg from 13.3 to 16.6(city), $30 is a good deal for one, but that's the modular ones(not as fancy as k&n's bolt ins) you can get the parts for them from spectre performace retailers, mine's one of the modular ones too, they're good but I'd rig up some support for it, may come loose.
Another question, is there anything holding the filter up? Does it bounce around at all?

@RaWxGuitarist Nope nothing, it just leans against the shock tower support. And it doesn't bounce around at all.

is that a stock MAF sensor? also, (if the filter is oiled) does it mess with the MAF?
RaWxGuitarist 11 months ago
@RaWxGuitarist yea its the stock one, I never even touched it. and no it doesn't, it just helps it filter air better, I never oiled mine though, I wasn't sure if you needed too or not. What your opinion on oiling it?

@patrickpl94 Well, I was just asking bc I heard that oil from the filter could mess with the maf. I have a K&N drop-in replacement filter that's oiled, and I don't think it messed up the maf, but it also has less air intake than an open element filter. I have a 2000 3.1L Malibu and I've been trying to find an intake like yours.

@RaWxGuitarist Oh I gotcha, well if you want one, look on ebay, theres a ton on there to chose from. Thats where I got mine, it was 30 bux with free shipping and it had I everything I needed. You should defiantly get it, it changes your Bu to a completely different animal. And saves a noticeable amount on gas too.
