As Minneapolis touts its 10 year plan to end homelessness, homeless persons continue to be criminalized due to their struggle to survive on the streets. Survivnig on the streets means being in the public eye of police, businesses and residents who would prefer that they disappear. This segment of the 26 minutes documentary Illegal to be Homeless brings the voices of those who struggle under these conditions. For more information, contact the film-maker at margaretrh@comcast.net

  • hey I always wanted to say thank you, Margret, for keeping the truth in view. This is great that you're putting your movie up. I've been homeless (living in vehicular poverty) for 11 years. But I think I might recover some this summer.. anyway, THANK YOU!

  • Hi, Ray,

  • I was homeless 14 years ago and even back then they made it pretty much illegal to be homeless. I found out it was illegal in Colorado & cops will pick you up but then send you out of state on Greyhound because they don't allow anyone to be homeless in their state. WA, OR & CA cops are more interested in harassing & arresting the homeless than anything. They trump up charges like that to make you sound like a criminal. The crime is only not being born wealthy!

  • Skyrocketing fuel and food prices; jobs being exported to China, India and Mexico; foreclosures; bankruptcy; and

Congress just passed a $370,000,000,000.00, pork filled, Farm Bill that was 1800 pages long. Nobody read it, 34 pages were mysteriously missing, and now I'm reading that it's illegal to be homeless in Minneapolis.

    When will Washington be fired?

  • I dont nderstand this, Minneapolis is trying to make Homelessness illegal!?!?

How the hell does that work?

What do the cops take you to jail or fine you if your homeless? WTF?

They cant do that can they.

We are against practices and laws that unfairly single out homeless people and criminalize them for everyday living and life-sustaining activites.
