1300 Cats Rescued in Tianjin, China

More than 1300 cats in dozens of metal cages were waiting by the roadside on Xiangyang Road in Tianjin Citys Nankai District.

They are all the victims of cat trafficking and about to be shipped to meat dealers in Chinas southern Guangdong Province. That is, until about 100 pet lovers and animal rights activists came to their rescue.

In this post on Chinasmack.com, dated last Monday, we can see one of the first calls rallying support to rescue these cats.

The netizen accuses police of siding with the cat traffickers and doing little to help. The post also suggests people whove recently lost a cat might find it in one of these cages.

Rescuers still fear for the cats health. They say the traffickers injected the cats with stimulants to keep them alive during transport. When the stimulants wear off, the weaker cats are likely to die in about seven days.

According to state-run China Daily, the rescued animals are now being housed in three abandoned classrooms in a primary school in Tianjin's Hongqiao district, waiting to be adopted.

And Yes I eat cow and chicken, and love my bacon..but I respect the animal as thinking/felling being. I hate that that people eat cats and dogs , but imagine how the Indian people feel about us eating cows..which is holy to them.

I'm sorry but chickens and cows are so different. cats have emotions feelings just like dogs and are aware of whats going on. I'm not saying its ok either way but common. this is different. ui'm out of this sick place and a ot of you defend these videos!!!! @waterbluenew7 Well, they were made to be eaten. Not to be for pets. And many chickens who are on a farm where they are later going to slaughtered, is better than in the wild where they die of diseases and animals that tear them to pieces.
