The Digi Comp II is a replica of a binary mechanical computer that can perform basic mathematical functions. As shown by Windell Oskay at Maker Faire Bay Area 2011, it uses billiard balls as its counters and performs calculations in real time as the balls make their transit down a ramp with specially places guides and levers.

My late grandfather was actually the creator of the digi comp II, when ESR started making it his one complaint was that he didn't like the plastic injection mold parts and wanted it to be much more durable and somewhat of a display item that would last a long time made out of wood and metal. One of the founders of ESR, however, specialized in injection molding so they chose to make it that way. This looks much nicer really, though a bit bigger than he intended I bet, not that anyones complaining

It would have been nice if the cameraman would have taken a step or two back so that we could have seen what the device actually looked like. And how it worked.
Yes seeing the individual parts working was nice. Lots of trees but no forest.
