With 48,000 visitors, 1,400 king size trucks and 5,000 motor bikes, mainly Harley Davidson, music, dancing and a fun fair, it has to be a blistering event. www.trucker-festival.ch
Stars Wanda Jackson (who told us she dated Elvis!) and Lonestar made for a memorable show.
Outside in the Western Dorf (village) there were many more top acts including Colorado from Scotland in black kilts and The Country Sisters from the Czech Republic. There were more bands from Germany, the Czech Republic and the States and many Swiss bands, including the brilliant young trio The Fires. The line dancing stage was busy with many different demonstration groups, enlivened by performances by the Czech dance group Caramella.
Pride of place has to go to the truckers, whose imaginative uses had us laughing and speechless with admiration as we went down the Truck Meile, where the trucks are four abreast the entire length of the runway.
