This allows you to dedicate one power supply to your motherboard and processor, and the second one to your drives and high demand graphics cards, lowering the strain on your power supplies, improving stability, and decreasing temperature from the power supply.

REVISION: you do not have to connect the gray power good cables together, just keep one connected to the motherboard, i have not had any problems with both connected but i beliee this may cause issues

could you also just jump start the psu with for example a paperclip and then just use that power for example fans so you could have more power for a gpu?
