One important thing which Westerners misunderstand Chinese so much is that we don't believe in Confucianism in our bones, we just feign to respect Confucianism in social contexts. Chinese believe in diligence, knowledge and above all, money.

In fact, the brown people is an heterogenous entity which should be distinguished from Asians. The brown local people of Indonesia, Phillipines, Malaysia, Thailand are prevalently poor. The wealthy people within those countries are Chinese.

The brown people of the South and Southeast Asia are doesn't belong to what economists called Asian values. Their culture are totally different from chopsticks economies.
