Rhyme is a poetic technique where a number of words contain similar sounds. Poems often have a rhyme scheme where certain lines rhyme with each other. Remember the old rhyme An apple a day / keeps the doctor away. Meter is the rhythm that the words make; it can be regular or irregular. A common form of meter is found in Shakespeares plays. He uses the form iambic pentameter frequently which is 5 pairs of stressed and unstressed syllables. An example would be in Romeo and Juliet where Romeo says But soft, what light from yonder window breaks / It is the East and Juliet is the sun. Your job is to find a poem, or write one, with a regular rhyming pattern and record a video reading the poem and explaining why rhyme is used.
