On the night of August 7th, NFIC reporter Paul DeMain arrives at the scene of a car accident. After ascertaining the scene is calm and no issue of sensitivity in filming are required he begins filming. A Sawyer County Sheriff, Brian Knapp arrives at the scene and focuses on DeMain who is taking pictures by cam recorder. After demanding that DeMain leave the scene, the officer grabs the cam recorder within 3 seconds of his demands, and then strikes DeMain with his flashlight. In this video, which is three videos combined, the officers actions are recorded. When the officer first asks DeMain to leave the scene, he grabs the video and tries to either take it away or break it, and the recording ends for a moment until it is restarted in 8-10 seconds. Full stories on the subject, and follow up articles and comments are found at www.IndianCountryNews.com in the IndianCountryTV section, Lac Courte Oreilles category under the same story headline. The officers report submitted to his superiors claims he warned DeMain over seven times, waived his hand in front of the camera, pointed down the road, and that DeMain because abusive and evaded his efforts and refused his instructions "BEFORE HE FINALLY GRABBED THE CAMERA.

  • There's no "right"or "wrong"!If you were on the job,at the time, you would have had the proper cameras, etc so where does it say that someone's curiosity over-rules others right to privacy.I know I wouldn't want anyone taking picture of a "crash"I was involved in...that means anyone can..you have to draw the line somewhere. Also all you cop bashers-I'd like to see you,for just a month,do their job and get their pay!People start respecting them AFTER THEY SAVE YOUR LIFE!!!

  • @Luv9movee I walked thru the accident scene asking my friends and neighbors if everything was all right. They know I am a reporter that was not going to film a naked or burning victim -- this officer is no longer with the police dept. because of several stupid incidents. I was not curious, I am a reporter covering public servants on a public highway, doing public things, while standing on my own land - using my discretion -- when an officer who is not from here - comes flying in

  • He didn't strike you. grow up ya puss.

  • @bennyboy422 Thanks for the tip. Considering this officer lied about a lot of other things he must have been deranged to have written a police report indicating he was forced to strike me with his flashlight because his life was in danger after he felt pain in his pinky. You should step up and point this out to your superiors and set the record straight since you were there and know this to be true, that he is a liar claiming that he hit me.

  • I'm a soon to be police officer & all I can say about this is...I know u wanna get tha accident scene on camera but u can't be up that close to a scene due to it being a crime scene and all...& plus I don't think tha two parties would want u to be even recording that...nxt time you do that jus stay az far back az possible cuz I mean there are a lot of mean ass officers out there n ya'll don't knw what tha stress they're goin through..

  • @mzmary90 As I told his superiors, (who ended up writing the letter of apology) that if he had said he was sorry rather then fabricating the police report to justify his overzealous actions the reporting process might have been over in 24 hours rather then the 9 months, suspension and the Sheriff writing a letter of apology for his officer's actions. I understand stress on the Beat. I have friends and relatives who are law enforcement officers.

  • @lilf4cku yo fuck off rednecks hate the po to man rednacks get it the hardest in small towns were the po take marshal law and put you under serfdom!

  • I had a run in with an officer like this and he was usein the same arrogant tone of voice and I did complie and after he led me away I calmly told the officer that I am a U.S marine and that he would have to show me respect and appologise to me and he refused well after he assulted me with a baton and took me to jail I filed a countersuit wich infact I won and the officer is now Banned from ever working for the force ever again.

to all COPs dont fuck with Military personel we have more POWER!!.

  • @mzmary90 "there are a lot of mean ass officers out there" because cops tend to be physical cowards. Cops like to abuse obviously inferior opponents while cowering in the face of a dangerous opponent, as the cops showed their cowardice in the face of the enemy at Columbine and VA Tech for all the world to see. Authoritarian personalities are often physical cowards; the same genetics causes both, apparently. Many cops are ANGRY because they KNOW they are cowards, hence the behavior in the video

  • @mzmary90 These idiots were more concerned about the camera man then they were about anyone potentially injured in that wreck. Good luck becomming a Cop and having most educated people in society hating your guts with a passion :)

  • KKK murder - they like car accidents - especially without witnesses.
