he is tipping his cap because he is feeling the love. Fenway is booing him out of tremendous respect for his great work developing a ws championship. Lesser known players like Mark Bellhorn who became a Yankee did not receive such a respectful ovation at Fenway.
Basically Johnny Damon as an "Idiot" was the epitome of the October 2004 Spirit which once and for all lead to the destruction of the Yankees. For him to switch Uniforms so quickly broke the hearts of many sox fans.

How is this classless? he went to the fucking YANKEES, ontop of it he refused an offer from the Red Sox to stay in a Red Sox uniform and then went and took the offer from the Yankees.
