A clip from the Tetsuwan Atom/Astro Boy 2003 series, episode 6, from Atom's fight with Atlas.

I think whoever decided to rerelease this show in the States did it a real disservice. They played the episodes out of order, replaced the original soundtrack with mediocre, featureless techno, and made Atom and Atlas sound like generic anime teenagers.

Movies and TV are full of EXTREME!11!!!11 robots who run around shooting lasers and killing people. But this show wasn't about fighting; it was about a kindhearted child robot named Atom who wanted to befriend and protect humanity.

Atom's arm cannon is an enormously powerful weapon, and I think the scene in which he fires it to stop Atlas was very beautiful. However, it was also very sad, because when Atom is forced to use this weapon, he has to become a robot who destroys. Atlas is, at his heart, also a kindhearted person-- so it is equally terrible that he's become a robot who hates humanity.

  • I still cant believe no one fansubbed this show, yet we get like 25 groups subbing CANAN 2006 .....I hate anime fans, they never no when they have somthing good in front of them, the english dub is pretty unwatchable, Id do anything for an uncut release, THIS SHOULD NOT BE OBSCURE!!

  • @sonickid101 You've never seen a 4Kids dub have you?

  • The animation is both awesome and frightning!

  • Not all of the dubbed music is bad. I rather enjoy some of it more so over the Japanese score. The only thing that annoys me is that I have DVD's of the first 12 Japanese episodes and they used the American credits music dubs over the original Japanese credit dubs so it's strange to watch. They reversed the order as well so the credits music at the end plays at the beginning and is just looped. Stupid. Why didn't they just leave the original?

But yes, this is a great scene from the 2003 series

  • @Zoorah hey hey hey. no need to be snarky. i thought the same thing, and i'm a huge MegaMan fanatic. in fact, i knew about MegaMan before Astro Boy.

  • Hey @the tetradecimal, are you download this episode or you upload it from an original DVD ? I have been searching this astro boy 2003 version for a long time but I always end up downloading the old version. Can you help me where I can get Astro boy 2003 episodes ?

  • Awesome. :)

  • the original astro boy was more depressing compared to this version

  • Did you sub this yourself? These certainly aren't the actual (Korean bootleg) subs. These actually have grammar, punctuation, and proper romanization! (rather than Atelosi, Meteluo, etc.)

  • Pretty intense and melodramatic. It seems to lack the light-hearted bit of the older series. Or is that elsewhere in the episode?

  • Damn where can I find all of the episodes?! O.o

  • @sFT3wINm09 What a sharp intellect you have. I suspect you are the originator of this theory. *sarcastic*
