No if anything goes wrong (which most likely wont) you can just restore your original firmware.

Just look it up here on YouTube, something like "Downgrade from 3.1.1 iPod touch"

You'll need an *.ipsw file of your previous version to downgrade to, and if you don't have it you can download it, just look it up

Pretty good, I have an iTouch 2Generation and upgraded it to 3.1... since there's no break for that version I downgraded back to 3.0 and then used this, worked fine
