Rotisserie Turkey is a great idea for four or five people. A smaller turkey makes sense and brings many advantages. Thaw time is three days. Cooking time may be less than three hours. Self-Basting is another great feature yet there's enough drippings to make a cup of gravy. Trussing with butcher's cord is important. Wings must not touch the heating elements. Legs are already trussed on many brands. Nowadays, stuffing is recommended to be done outside the turkey due to it's longer cooking time. That being said, it's not much different than roasting a chicken.
METHOD: After following thawing directions, remove neck and giblets from each cavity and set aside for another day. Wash and pat dry turkey. Tie shut both cavities by running a butcher's cord long ways around body of turkey. Run another cord around body to press wings down tightly. Push Ronco spit through the turkey starting from the rear while turkey is breast side up. Attach other end of spit unit then roll across a cutting board to see if any turkey parts need further tying. Wings tend to loosen and touch heating unit while turning. Finally, coat turkey with olive oil or butter, then sprinkle and rub your favorite herbs and spices. Be sure to apply plenty of course salt. Mount turkey into unit and start the rotisserie. A 9.25 pound turkey was fully cooked in 2 hours and 45 minutes. Turkey continually basted itself. There was plenty of drippings to make one and a half cups of gravy even though there was no need to stop the unit to baste the turkey.

  • you touched the turkey, touched the sage, touched the turkey, touched the salt grinder, touched the turkey, touched the pepper grinder....

  • @britt4170 Yep, we touch everything. But we also clean up to prevent cross-contamination. Reality is that this is an internet video, not real life. I wouldn't comment on the RoadRunner jumping off the cliff. it's just a cartoon.
