King Curtis' signature song...fittingly, this was also played by an all-star band at his 1971 funeral. The young Reverend Jesse Jackson led the church service with mourners such as Stevie Wonder, Duane Allman and Aretha Franklin in attendance.

  • Truman Thomas, on organ , Bernard Purdie on drums, and yes, CL Dupree on guitar and Jerry Jemott on bass. The Kingpins were simply awesome and King Curtis' untimely death was an obscenity.

  • This is the first time I heard of King Curtis, thanks for the honor.

  • Grandes ícones da musica nos anos 70!!!

  • I type in King Curtis and all I see is this loud fat kid running around. What the hell.

  • @McGarVision I saw the Allman Brothers live in concert the day after King Curtis died in Richmond, Va. and they declined to play an encore because they were so bummed out about it.

  • @piltdonn1 i have one,not 4 sale thou

  • @A1MaxJones Amen brother. Cornell was the best.

  • Hail to the King..!!! Yes, this is the man, that I grew up listening to. I'm a child born in the late 60's, and this song was one of the songs I had to listen to every weekend...ALL weekend. I probably knew about "King Curtis" before I knew my own name. Now that I am older and wiser...this song, I now listen respectfully and enjoyingly. Truly, he was a talented and gifted man. Although he lost his life tragically, may he rest in peace.

  • where did 40 years go?

but the man's music is still the best!

  • @joelbeblue They did it as a tribute to King Curtis who was a great friend of Duane's

  • man, that is one sweeeeet! soundin' soprano. thx mc garvision
