2011.07.01 Thai activists call to release "BERSIH 2.0" and the PSM campaigners

Bangkok - A dozen activists gathered in front the embassy of Malaysia on Sathorn Road, Bangkok, Thailand on Friday July 1, 2011 calling for the release of Malaysian MPs and activists who were arrested while campaigning for clean and fair elections in their country.

These activists including Try Arm Workers' Cooperative, Turn Left Organisation, League of Liberal Thammasat for Democracy, Iskra Group, and People's Empowerment Foundation handed over the open letter to the embassy after holding up banners in front of the embassy at 11 am. The letter condemned the Malaysian government's "suppression" of Malaysian activists who were running "Bersih 2.0" or "Free and Fair Elections Campaign".

Malaysian activists were arrested for wearing a yellow shirt with the Bersih logo and were planning to attend the Bersih 2.0 rally scheduled to take place in Kuala Lumpur on July 9.
