Alex Salmond officially opened the new Gaelic School in Inverness on 11/1/08. Excuse the poor video quality and jittery camera-work , my arms were tired! I think this serves as a message that Gaelic is far from being the 'dead' language some commentators claim it to be.

  • Can Alex Salmond speak Gaidhlig himself?:p

They do put a lot of money in the old language of the Gael :-) That's wonderful!

  • He's trying his best to learn and he seems to be genuinely enthusiastic about the language. They don't really put that much cash into it. Compared to the tram system in Edinburgh its a pittance!

  • I've got 5 first cousins in that School :D

  • owh! I didn't know, I'm Flemish :p But as I am myself learning Gaelic, everything around it interests me greatly :-)

  • oh well done, thats excellent to give Scots Gaelic a renaissance

  • I'm trying to learn Gallic/Gaelic but it's hard when there is hardly anyone else to speak Gallic/Gaelic to.

But I think there is still a lot of words we use today that derives from our ancent language.

    Good video.
