Music from Alexandria, Egypt.

This clip is more musical than photographic, expressing tunes from the city streets. You can hear similar tunes in the Alexandrian pop songs, in the weddings, street bands shows & other folk music occasions.

The reason why the music, though basically local, can be appreciated by people belonging to various cultures may be due to the celebrated cosmopolitan atmosphere the city enjoyed for most of the 19th & 20th centuries.

The city of Alexandria had 2 state-operated orchestral bands; Navy & Police.
They used to participate in the national & city events & played some role in the formation of the Alexandrian's music taste.

why is the music in MIDI file? it's very hard to appreciate any of if when in such non-human form

Thanks for the comment. Format is not MIDI, it's MP3. Being basically melodic music appreciation should not be hard anyway.
