GPS NavigationGPS navigation is a satellite navigation system that is designed to determine the position and speed of an object in any location on the Earth. The key operation principle of the system is based on identifying the location through measuring the distance to the object from points with known satellite coordinates. The distance is calculated according to the time required for the signal to be transmitted from the satellite to the GPS antenna. Based on the data received from the satellites, the GPS receiver identifies distance to each of the satellites, and their relative positions, as well as geometrically calculates its own coordinates. Note, that in order to determine two coordinates - the latitude and the longitude - one just needs to receive signals from the three satellites. GPS navigations helps to:- establish one's own position on the Earth with maximum precision;- reach the final destination of your route and return to the starting point;- based on the starting point and final destination, calculate a route through arterial or local roads, as well as through the roads in an unknown city;- locate bypass routes in the event of unexpected traffic jams and obstructions, congestions, and road sites under repair;- if necessary, locate the required work sites, gas stations, traffic control stations, cafes by the road, motels and hotels;- use a board computer that shows your speed, travel time, average travel speed, including that with stops, and time of stops. The most popular GPS-navigators are those designed for personal use and car purposes. Mobile GPS- navigators are the most universal devices. They can be successfully used in hiking, hunting and fishing. Such GPS navigators can not only calculate routes, but also send and receive electronic mail. Besides, provided that you have a special hook, you can secure this device to a car panel. Hand-held mobile GPS navigators take up very little space and can easily fit into a coat pocket. Car navigation systems help save time, calculate best routes to the required location, provide information about the closest, and faraway objects, support voice alert about where and when to turn. Car GPS-navigators that can easily fit into any vehicle can be used to connect receiving and transmitting equipment that would automatically transfer travel parameters to control stations.Satellite navigation is constantly developing, and today anyone, who wishes to, can freely use the Global Positioning System (GPS) without having to acquire any special permits.
