I first heard this as a rip-off cover version by "Music for Pleasure" records. They would record current hits using uncredited session musicians and singers and package them on a budget album just before Christmas so mums would buy them for their teenagers. Their slogan was "Can you tell these from the originals?" There are many versions of this song and it's taken me this long to find out exactly which version MFP was recreating. I know it's subjective but IMHO, this is the best version ever.

This is London!
All the rhythmic, jazzic, poetic talent...of the last days of 'folk' and 'beat' with a little bit of 'world' thrown in. Prodigy Georgie Fame almost got swept away by Beatlemania....
a Cold War Media Phenomenon.
Great bit of music...different world.

Much prefer The Soul Agents version on Pye and is much better in my opinion

I thought the original is Willie Mabon's? Much better than this, though some great drum work

The original was sung and written by Willie Dixon. The great thing about this song is that it's in 7/4 time.....hard to play and hard to sing....

Great days-Back in the 60s-allnighter at the Flamingo,Wardor Street.Gorgie was the MAN!!--Mose Alison did the original but Georgie was just great--Till he turned himself into a joke(Getaway--Yea-Yea--Bonny and Clyde) Should have stuck to Parchment Farm-Night train-Let the good times roll etc. Wish I was a Mod again!!!!!!!!
Now its X Factor and my pension.
