@TruthandLiberty1 i used to think Carey was the best footballer too, but when you think about it, whenever Carey went into the middle or halfback, he struggled. His ONLY position was in the forward structure. Was basically a one trick pony. Same as Ablett Snr.
Hird however, could play anywhere and be effective.
So overall, Hird was the greater footballer IMO.
Don't get me wrong, still think Ablett and Carey were amazing footballers.
