@LordAppelsved Reliability!!! The same horse as a v6 in a v8 is going to be much more reliable. You can only get so much power out of a smaller displacement before you just start breaking things.

@LordAppelsved Try 1,70 in euro's here in the netherlans:(

@1337bman Like the other guy said, torque. It all comes down to your application. A good example is the 5.0L, 270hp fuel injected motor I had on my 21ft Four Winns. Fast boat, but my 5.7L 235hp carb'd motor I had on my old 77 21' SeaRay had noticeably more torque. Boat was heavier, engine older, but the thing just pulled the skiers out of the water easier. Both were inboard/outboards.
So in contrast that v8 300hp is going to have a definite torque advantage over a similarly-aged v6 300hp.
Låter fint!

Gas pig. Carb 2 stroke is out.

@Peterbj Thank you for your remark. You'll be happy to hear the engine is sold. However, if studying a LCA - Life Cycle Analysis - the best way to NOT pollute nature is sticking with the old stuff you have rather than buying new equipment - regardless of gas milage. /Philip

why do you need a v-8 to achive 300hp? i have much smaller v-6 achive that.

@1337bman
ask the engineers att OMC, I didn't design the engine. However the V8 puts out quite alot of torque, so I guess that would have been one of the reasons for making a V8 instead of L6/V6. Anyways, the engine is now sold.
