Bird of prey training session in Stratford on Avon. 3ft Eagle owl glides effortlessly across the field above the camera to its handler. The noise at the end of the clip is the jesses hitting my head.
We'd been working with this bird for an hour or so, they only fly when they're hungry, you tempt them to the glove with pieces of meat. When they're full they stop - They're "fed up". It's not big enough to crush a skull, but the talons are very sharp and when they grip, they lock in place.

I'm glad it was the jesses, and not the bird's talons. If it wanted to, could Eagle Owls crush our skulls in?
