How can the Prophet be succeeded when the Quran itself testifies that the Prophet is the final seal of the divinely appointed Messengers?

but all of the greatest sunni books tell us an authentic hadith of the prophet (sawa) , that he told :

" after me there will be 12 rightful successors (not prophets but successors) and the last one is the Mahdi "

so we have 12 and we know them.

where are the sunnis 12 ????
