  • - i actually told my surgeon and orthodontist to tell people about your youtube videos, they were very interested about it and seemed like they would refer there patients to you for information.I find your videos comforting since you are the real patient, not some ridiculous video with actors in it.Again, thank you Ben.Also i would play Diablo3 but my pc sucks : ( playing UT3 on 360 on the moment, if you play heres my gamertag

  • Thank you so much man. I hope they find that my videos are substantial enough. Medical information always needs to be 100% accurate to be out there. I am being as honest as I possibly can throughout all my videos.

Btw, you have a while before D3 comes out my friend. Put away $100 a month and by the time its out, you'll have enough for a spiffy new computer. :) That's what I'm doin! I'm going to be building a desktop, spending around $2000! It's gonna rock!

    Thanks again!

  • Hello everyone.

I am currently laying down on my couch recovering from this morning's procedure. I was sedated, so semi-awake, but completely unaware of what was really going on inside my mouth.

I'm not sure how I'm feeling just yet. There is a little pain where they added gum tissue, and I just took my meds, so we'll see how they kick in. I have the Vicodin if necessary.

I am currently prescribed to take 3x500mg doses of Amoxicillin for 7 days. 1 Motrin every 6 hours, and as needed

  • (cont'd) for pain.

Right now, it hurts just a little bit, but I'll live. I'm probably going to pass the time by watching Law and Order SVU, or sleeping, or reading. Whatever I really feel like doing.

As for the video today.. I'm still thinking about doing it. But I am really no condition to talk. I want to heal completely, so that involves no smiling, minimal talking, and NOT showing the operation site (sorry).

I can tell you this though, it looks very grey and bloody.

  • (cont'd) I have green stitches in that are suppoesd to dissolve in a week. I am also wearing a stint/retainer that is protecting the incision site where they took connective tissue and placed it on my two front teeth. I don't feel any pain at the incision site, it's mainly just a "pokey" feeling where they put in the new gum tissue.

The stint/retainer will be removed in about a week.

The hardest part now is hoping I will recover quickly enough to return to work and get back to normal life.

  • I just wanted to take some time to thank you all for your support, and above all else, I hope my videos continue to inspire others to do what's best for them and relieve others of their worries concerning oral surgery.

  • do you know how many millimeters they expanded your top jaw? Your original bite looks very similar to mine, both narrow and set back but my ortho & surgeon have decided they needed to do mine in 2 surgeries (one to expanded-SARPE and the other in 6mo to move forward) i'm really bumming on it and wish i saw this first--these surgeries are not the easiest lifestyle things to handle, now i have another one in 6mo! anyways, i need to expand about 7-8 mm, not sure what your expansion was...thx!!

  • I love your smile

  • had a gum draft done yesterday, it actually went very well. just going through the recovery stage now, hope it turns out great

  • wow you look quite different than pre-surgery! i hope i could improve that as well............

  • i had to have the gum graft--but it was down the bottom front. bone loss and gum recessession comes from the braces too. but it was done a few years after my jaw surgery. i also got crowns on the top 6 about 15 years later. by the way---you look awesome. and daaam, what a difference!!!! my top palate was very narrow too. i am so happy for you-i know its a really amazing life to live when we have these jaw issues. totally understand. you look great and im very happy for you.

  • I have the same problem

  • good luck.
