Tim Richmond remembered by his friends

First we see Tim in the #27 being hounded by earnhardt's 3 at Bristol, then a little shtick by Tim......then the announcement of his death and some remembrance of an incredible talent. An athlete dying young. Had life treated him a little differently his talent would have been talked about today in the same breath as the best in the world. Who ran faster? Holberts 962 Porsche or Richmonds nascar Chevie? Listen to Rick Hendrick.

Oh yeah. Chip the hypocrite Williams shows up. Not surprising he was representing nascar.

Tim Richmond was winning races about the time I started watching NASCAR. He was a great talent no doubt. But don't be so quick to throw NASCAR under the bus. Keep in mind, they had the safety of the corner workers and medical workers to think about at a time when HIV was practically a new thing. Would you want to work on Tim RIchmond being HIV positive if he had a crash? No rubber gloves either people.

Richmond was a great driver, but he killed himself with his lifestyle.

@kingpins9 ....after reading Smokey's book no one can give nascar the benefit of doubt on anything. There have always been at least two sets of rules, one for their meal tickets and one for everyone else. When watching ESPN's 30 for 30 on Richmond before he died BFjr admitted their first drug test on Tim was foul. They screwed it up completely. But would not admit it for a decade and a half. Had nascar been a more reputable company who knows how it would have played out.

@1986Sheri While I've never seen it "officially" posted. I've seen several stories alluding to the possibility he may have had it since he was in prep school. How he would have attained it there could have been anyone's guess.

@mitchman414 NASCAR has tried in recent years to give Tim (one of my all-time favorites) a more fitting tribute but there are a few issues with making him into a superhero. #1. NASCAR knew he had HIV/AIDS and it was 1988 as you said. They were scared and had no idea what they were dealing with. #2. There was rumor that Tim had only bought Ragan's ride to loosen the belts and off himself in style. #3. He had sex with women AFTER learning his diagnosis, at least one is still living with HIV today.

TR looks like a gay party guy to me.I think R. Petty was in the know{drug use}. TR denied it,but that doesn't make it so.I honestly do not mean that in a condecending way.I really admire his "avante garde", deminore.One cool cat.FYI,most ppl get HIV infection from I.V. drug use and/or anal sex.It almost always passes from the infected male.Despite what we were told for a long time.It's very hard to catch it from females.Hep-C, herpes,and H.P.V. can all be communicible from females.So,be careful.

@1986Sheri Tim liked his Pu**y,one of the stories/rumors is that he got it from a Cuban stripper in Florida , I'm not sure if its mentioned in David Poole's book Tim Richmond ; The Fast Life And Remarkable Times of NASCAR's Top Gun.
