An Anime Mashup more than a music video, this clip takes the video from the Fortress Iserlohn docking sequence from the first Galactic Heroes movie and puts it to the song "Gathering the Fleet" from the Space Battleship Yamato (Star Blazers) soundtrack (a theme I always used to call "The Gamilon March").

With a massive flotilla of Imperial spaceships, the themes match and the video syncs up remarkably well without any significant editing. Add to this that both anime series were directed by the same man (Noboru Ishiguro), and star some of the same actors (Kei Tomiyama as "Susumu Kodai" and "Yang Wen-Li", and Goro Naya as "Admiral Okita" and "Admiral Merkatz), some Yamato/LoGH mashup seemed natural.

  • So are they underwater now or what?

  • @Lightray110 Not exactly... they're inside the outer shell of the Imperial Space Fortress Iserlohn... which has an outer shell of a liquid metal, reflective to energy and absorbent to kinetic impact. Apparently the outer shell is suspended over a hollow inner core, containing the fortress control center and the space fleet docking bay.

  • I ove thsi video, because it's the only place i can find this song anywhere.

    DESS-lok Desslok Desslok!

  • @Soundwave3591 see my reply to PeterRSewell from a year ago in the comments here. It has the catalog number for the Yamato series 1 background music CD which you can order thru cdjapan or other outlets.

  • Great vid, the music and the sequence work very well together. Would you mind telling me were you aquired the soundtrack from because i have been looking for it and so far have had 0 luck

  • It's on "Yamato BackGround Music Part 1" from Nippon Columbia (catalog COCX-33200). I bought this and all the other Yamato CDs at conventions years ago when dealers still sold anime BGM. The best place now to get legit anime CDs is CD Japan. Unfortunately YouTube bastards won't let me post any URL or I'd give you the direct link. Just google cdjapan and you'll find it. Then search for album titles containing "Yamato", you'll find it. A few others are out of stock but this one is there.

  • Sieg kaiser Rheinhard!

  • Can LOGH be had here in america? Rumor was something a very limited release that was going to cost around 1500 or somthing like that. I hate the fact that possibly one of the best and last of the great space operas (shudder to label as such but...) is still not available here in the US. Seems like since the challanger exploded that there has been some kind of taboo on exposing children to anything positive about space (or anything manly or intelligent for that matter).

  • @killjoyjonas77 Haha 4 years late but I believe you're thinking of the blu ray edition. It was like $400 per season (26 episodes).

  • I think the Brunhild is the coolest designed ship in LOGH.

  • i think the original soundtrack should be Tchaik's Swan Lake, "The Dance of the Swans", fitting the sequence perfectly.

  • Legend of the Galatic Heros

  • You sound like you haven't seen LotgH... AT ALL.

  • i like the show, i have watched both and i like the legend of galatic heroes most. bescause mass fleet battle. but starblazer is also cool show.
