You can never hear it, you'd be dead before the sound reaches the ground. In combat, pilots fly in patterns that make them invisible and leave the target deaf. The A-10's gun is supersonic, meaning the bullets travel faster than the sound it produces. Hear the noise after the rounds hit the ground, that mechanical humming at :14? Yeah, that's the gun.
