One of the many gun exercises the Cole conducted in the beginning of their 2003-2004 deployment to the Mediterranean. Preceding this was a drill using the CIWS Block 1B, which is capable of engaging surface targets. Weapons involved were the Mk38 in 25mm, the M2 in .50 cal and the M60 and Mk44 in 7.62mm.

  • great vid & thx for your service!

  • Thank you, we appreciate your gratitude!

  • why couldn't they soot one bullet when they was attacked in 2000, maybe my neice would still be here! R.I.P LAKEINA FRANCIS age 19

  • I am sorry for your loss. The answer to your comment is more than I can put here, as I have been a critic of how the Navy does security long before we were bombed. Unfortunately, as happens more than it should, change happens when it's too late. Thanks for finding my video.

  • I hope whatever target they shoot at is BIG ans SLOW because they seem to have trouble converging their fire on a speed-boat sized target.

  • For most, it seems easy...it takes a little practice for most people to get it right.

As far as I remember, I don't really have much else as far as crew served weapon shoots. I do remember someone video taping me doing some firing at a target with an M14, but who knows where that video is.

This was also about 4-5 years ago, YouTube didn't exist really, the newer crew probably would have more videos of stuff like this. Though doing a basic search, not much around to this day. Hmph.

  • @pakjai Not even close to sinking when it was attacked.

  • @Urdulen All they were doing was instructing how to fire forcfully, with dispersion, or accuretly(not all at the same time) making shure the guns work, and getting the crew to get used to the different weapons for more readieness. Marine Battle Companies do this all many times a year.

  • Wasn';t this the boat that nearly got sunked? lol

  • All the Navy has to do is use these kind of videos for recruitment tools. That's the big promise of the military anyway. Do whatever we tell you and you can play with our toys.

  • That 25 mills got some punch.

  • hey whered my tax dollars go? lol jk

  • Leadership shouldn't have done a port visit to begin with.

Underway replenishment means ships can stay at sea, away from ports. The whole idea of port visits is absurd nowadays because it's grossly insecure. (Italian frogmen with simple explosive charges bagged the battleship Viribus Unitus in World War 1, the idea is not new.) It's doubly absurd in the Middle East and Persian Gulf. Modern ships can stay at sea for years if required.

  • muah sparare nel mare.... ma si divertono?

  • Great video... My dad is currently on the Cole and its cool seeing some of the weapons i've seen in action. Also, thanks for your service.
