And Shakira broke into the stardom she has out of pure need to want to be known outside her country. Otherwise if she hadn't, she'd be singing and perfoming only in her country. Why else do you think she taught herself english? Shakira still connects with her Arab roots, hence her belly dancing and certain songs she has made in the past.
