On 17 February 2011 over 150 labour and community supporters assembled near the Mexican Consulate in Vancouver as part of a global solidarity event - Days of Action - speaking out for labour and human rights in Mexico. The event, coincided with the 5th anniversary of the Pasta de Conchos mine disaster in Coahuila State. Reading the 65 names of workers killed at Pasta de Conchos and Los MIneros members killed in clashes with the military and hired thugs is exiled Los Mineros leader Napoleon Gomez, who is joined by Martin Esparza, secretary general of the Mexican Electrical Workers Union and Jorge Castillo, deputy secretary general of the Mexican Telephone Workers Union - other organizations under violent attack in Mexico. USW District 3 Director Stephen Hunt also speaks at the event and leads a labour delegation to meet with the Consul General of Vancouver.
