The speedometer in my car reads only 45 when it's very cold. Works normally if warm.

  • What year is that Olds Rengency?

  • @Joey198687Heller It's a 1989. Still going, though I'm not the one driving it. Almost 200,000 miles.

  • Your vehicle speed sensor. $10 at the junk yard.

  • Thanks for the tip, but no. The odometer still works properly and there is no "check engine" light as on another car I had with bad VSS once.

  • i don't think it's legal to drive that fast in parking lots. lol

  • No trust me VSS won't always throw a code. I just replaced this on my '85 Park Avenue.
