@SpookyHelder, When an unknown number of assailants break into your home at 2 am, a 33 round magazine is exactly what you need. On the other hand, if you feel comfortable with 10 round magazine as opposed to a 15, 17 or 20 round mag that you could own, then my only question to you is are you willing to bet your life on it? You can take guns like the glock pistol with the 33 round magazine off the streets. Buy it for yourself. And buy a safe to secure it when it's not in use. The End.

Right on, Devlin! Though, banning all guns would be nicer, but starting with one type is better than none, I suppose! As a Canadian, I don't know anything about guns, but according to Wikipedia, anyway, the jackass used a 9mm Glock model 19 semi-automatic pistol with a 33-round magazine, which I dunno either way if it's an assault weapon, though technically, it's a weapon, used solely for assaulting people, so... yeah...
