@JanErikEdvartsen yeah although you could argue modern FPS are LESS complex. Certainly in level design they are anyway. No chance of exploring or getting lost like in Hexen, Redneck Rampage etc..

I'm having a blast playing through this game again. Good memories from '96. The hard hitting sound effects, meaty weapon sounds, and the monsters are top notch. I remember being awed my the cutting-edge 3d polygonal graphics. Today games are too complex, and that hinders the fun factor for me, somewhat. But with that said I still enjoy games like Crysis, and I'm looking forward to BF3.

@dageezerboi Yes me too. Today's FPS shooters are generic and too complex with storylines, cutscenes and mission objectives where some annyoing dude is telling you to go to THIS or THAT place and to THIS or THAT. I miss Quake and Doom! :)

I miss these old style FPS :(
Are you using some type of high resolution mod for the game ?

@xeer0w Yes, it's the DarkPlaces engine by Lord Havoc it's a pretty neat source port for quake 1.
