U.S. Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen (R-FL), Chairman of the House Committee on Foreign Affairs, spoke earlier today at a Capitol Hill rally for human rights in North Korea. The event, hosted by the Korean Church Coalition, sought to bring attention to the plight of the North Korean people who for decades have endured oppression, famine, and injustice at the hands of the Kim dictatorship. Ros-Lehtinen is the author of the Ambassador James R. Lilley and Congressman Stephen J. Solarz North Korea Human Rights Reauthorization Act of 2012 (H.R. 4240) and a co-sponsor of the North Korean Refugee Adoption Act of 2011 (H.R. 1464).
