@Dimitri0809 Thats cool. Basically create some armor that can record hard hits on the legal target areas, create a way that weapons can be modified to do it. Go to your Marshall and see if you guys can experiment with them. If enough people like it and its easy to do on a really light budget at home. It just may take off. Someone has to take the lead. If thats what you want to do, go for it. Cant hurt to try.

The point is I would like to play this sport with electronic deviced keeping track of a score and to help aid in the scoring when it comes to a sword fight, there are some poeple who would like to play this way but it's only because the honor system isn't as accurate as some claim it to be.

@Dimitri0809 Sure its not 100% accurate but the game is about having fun and everyone likes the way it is. When you fought, did you have a hard time telling good blows? What kind of armor were you wearing?

@JVRottweil
I just don't find the honor system accurate ennough to have a decent sword fight whether it is based on tagging or solid blows they are both very similar a blow is like a tag but much harder and more force.

@Dimitri0809 Alse the SCA used many different types of weapons. Arrows, bolts, ballistas, trebuchets, catapults, axes, spears, polearms. Many of them will be hard to make electronic versions of. Remember this is DIY hobby. People get to make their own weapons and armor for the most part.

@Dimitri0809 Its not about who gets hit first. Its about who gets hit will a sold telling blow. While it is tagging others, its not who gets touched first. The hit has to be good and solid. Only the person getting hit can tell you if it was hard enough. The system works well enough and thats why we can have a thousand per side in some wars. The members like it the way it is. Thanks for your input though, certainly nothing wrong with looking at it from a different way.

@Dimitri0809,
This misses the point of the combat. The principle is to show how honourable and chivilrous you are, not necessarily to win the fight.
If someone told me that they were using an electronic system because they did not trust me not to cheat I would be quite offended. Fencing has different principles behind it.

@JVRottweil
Why do you have to make things sound impossible?, it's well worth the speacial armor if the system works really well..!! Could you imagine trying to play lasertag without a proper electronic scroing system this is just an example by the way but I think you will be able to understand??
SCA is more like a game of tag, who ever you tag first is eliminated but with electronics similar to being used in fencing you will be able to make the scoring really accurate.

@Dimitri0809 You would then have to calibrate each weapon to know if it was a hard enough hit. Mere touches are not counted. Glances are not counted. A good solid stout shot is what counts and its up to the opponent to call it. They system works and its all for fun anyway. If everyone had to buy special armor or weapons just to play, there would be very few playing.

It would be better if sea used an electronic scoring system similar to the ones used in fencing or laser tag, at least if that was the case then you would have a much easier time keeping track of a score or who get's eliminated when someone is strikes by a weapon blow.
I know fencing is a kind of similar too this instead it's more like who's sword or rattan as you guy's like to call it touches there opponent first and then you get a point.
