A totally new race concept based on these simple precepts.
1) Allow anyone with a drivers liscence to apply (for free).
2) Get 6 brand new fully race prepped Nissan 370z's for them to play with.
3) Give the overall winner £10 000.
4) There is only one rule........there are no rules.
This is the 1st round at Silverstone where 2000 applicants had been whittled down to a final 9 and went head to head with 3 pro drivers to decide who would go into the final against the winners of the German and French rounds. The 3 pro's were Tom Onslow Cole (BTCC), Paul O'Neill (BTCC) and Robbie Kerr (F3/ A1GP).
Suprisingly the 2 favourites (Tom and Paul) finished in the bottom 4.
Finishing 1st was Autosport award winner Nick Tandy, closely followed in 2nd by Robbie Kerr. 3rd and 4th places were not awarded as James Littlejohn and Ryan Lindsey collided and put their cars out of action during the final, but both go through to the european grand final.
Overall, a great idea, great cars and great fun.
£180 000 pounds worth of Nissan 370z's were used in this event............£120 000 pounds worth didnt make it to the last lap!
