Using the wrong kind of materials also bothers me. It makes me puke... I remember the conversation between two really old fellas, long ago at the bus stop. They were talking about the old times... and through the conversation somewhere, the guy from the right side turned his face onward, placed both hands on his cane and said sadly; "Ah... the world went wrong since they began to put the yogurt in plastic cups."
Sad but true...

Does it burn longer than a paraffin wax candle of similar size? Also, does it stink? I am interested in making these kinds of candles.

@BooKittyRadley Interestingly enough, it did not stink or even give off a lot of smoke. I believe however that this was due to the high wax content (~40%), and assume there would be more odour and smoke if the wax content was lower.
The next time I get around to trying the experiment (whenever that will be) I will be using beef tallow. Unlike pork fat (lard) beef tallow remains fairly stiff at room temperature, requiring little or no wax to keep it solid.
