Through joy, loss, and friendship our Leichttraktor takes a incredible Journey to rescue the one he cares for most!
I tried to convey emotion and personalities through these mechanical metal things. Its rather hard, seeing how they are pretty stiff and well... are tanks. But hopefully I've partially succeeded in that.
It was also pretty tough because the competition only gave us two weeks to complete the whole project. I used about 2 - 3 days to brainstorm ideas and come up with the basic concept. I love pixar (and especially pixar's short films) as well as Samurai Jack. Its amazing how they can convey emotion and dialogue with out talking, and that was something I wanted to create. Telling the story visually rather then spoon feeding the audience. But yes, we spent about 2 - 3 days brain storming ideas, then 1 week of principal filming, and 3 days of NON-STOP editing.. with some last minute shooting where I needed more footage. I had 30 minutes remaining before the deadline, and thus didn't allow me to smooth out the editing as much as I wanted to. There also several additional scenes that I wanted to add as well. One of them would've actually had the Maus die while allowing the leichttraktor to escape in the final battle scene. Plus I wanted to extend the Final battle a bit longer as well.. alas ran out of time. But thats enough of me rambling about the makings about this Short Film.
Anyway I hope you guys enjoy this. Comments are welcomed!
