On the right is my "same sex different species" couple of a female con and a female nicaraguan cichlid. On the left is the female con's son, a big male con, and his new girlfriend, a female jade eye cichlid. As you can see, the two couples do not get along. The interesting thing about this interspecies same sex couple is that each gal has a potential male of her own species in the tank with them, but choose each other for mates.
he'll still fuck her...

I have the paper that seperated the Archocentrus genus into Archocentrus, Cryptoheros, Amatitlania, Rocio, and Hypsophrys. If you would like to read it, let me know, i'll send it to you.

Can you show me any literature that says this.
Neither of them are in the Archocentrus genus. Current nomenclature has them as:
Con : Amatitlania nigrofasciatus
Nic: Hypsophyrus nicaraguensis
Nics will always be in their own genus. They are the ONLY central american cichlid that has non-adhesive eggs, this gives sufficient reason for ichthyologists to give H. nicaraguensis its own genus.

Oh yes they are. They are both Archocentrus. They didn't use to be, but they are now.

By other couple, do you mean the Nic and the Con?
They aren't in the same genus.
