Financial Warning for African Americans - Blacks

Over the Thanksgiving holiday, I watched three commercial that highly offended me. The companies were Money Mutual, Rent a center & The Rush card. Magic Johnson, Russell Simmons & Montel Williams were featured. Since these commercials were marketed to the black consumer, I felt it necessary to voice my opinion. I was more than surprised that these celebrity - business men decided to support these type of companies. I guess even wealthy celebrities are having a hard time making ends meet these days. Rent a Center is 100 to 200 higher than regular retail stores ,if you pay the 90 day cash price.You also get to take the merchandise home and enjoy it while you pay on it.Also since there is no long term obligation figure the amount of mattresses RAC gets back ruined and have to throw away becuase some customer couldnt take care of it. RAC is not attacking blacks.

RAC just built a location in puerto rico and hawaii (no blacks)

@angieurmami If I were you, I'd warn all the Puerto Ricans against RAC as possible. You pay a little money over a long period of time, while you have the merchandise, but you will NEVER own it. You will forever be paying on it. If you add up all the interest, and payments over the years, you'd see they charge you far more than retail stores. Retail stores have sales, coupons, etc. Its not a good deal in the long run, but it you like it so much, knock yourself out.

Race is definitely a factor in targeting demographics, but foremost these businesses target people by their socioeconomic status (obviously). It's so obvious that they market towards people who are making minimum wage and possibly struggling to pay for what they deem a necessity.
